Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Jose Aldo looked soft and deflated at the UFC 194 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Saturday night (Dec. 12, 2015), where “Junior” was knocked out by Conor McGregor in just 13 seconds (video).
That’s according to UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
While the longtime funnyman doesn’t want to “jump to conclusions,” he did make it a point to reference the UFC 189 drug-test fiasco earlier this year in Brazil, in which pee collectors were shaken down by the Brazilian police for stealing some of that Brazilian lemonade (full story here).
As for his podcast buddy Brendan Schaub? It’s all about that X-factor (via Bloody Elbow):
“He’s never failed a test, but who knows. You’re batshit crazy if you don’t think Jose Aldo’s body looked different. You’re batshit crazy if you think he’s gonna fight the same. Also, his camp, I think, is 1-7, 0-8 since this drug testing came out. So you’re talking about a different fighter, man. For me, that’s a huge X-factor.”
Then again, Schaub thinks everyone is batshit crazy these days.
Aldo has gone on record to insist he has — and will — follow the new rules from United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), which drug tests each and every fighter competing under the ZUFFA banner (details), in addition to whatever testing is carried out by local athletic commissions.
To date, the Brazilian has been clean as a whistle.
